The weather has been heating up and Summer is about to smack us all in the face. I’ve been living in the Bay Area now for about 6 months and we were so excited to find our house, that we forgot to ask if there was air conditioning. As you can probably guess… I don’t have air conditioning. We didn’t think it would be a big deal, as Northern California is usually cooler than Southern California, right? Wrong. It’s been in the 80’s the past few days and we’re pretty much melting in our own house. I don’t know about you guys, but I don’t think Summer is the time for heavy cakes and warm pies anyway… it’s the time for quick snacks! Anything that keeps my oven turned off is definitely a treat I enjoy in the Summer.

ImageThats right, we could all take a helpful hint from our canine and feline friends: Napping, and more specifically the cat nap, could be the secret to increasing your productivity. 

The National Sleep Foundation (Yes there is such a thing) says that adults need between 7 and 9 hours of sleep each night, but goes on to say that napping may reduce the number of hours you need a night. The site also identifies different times of napping, of which it would seem that a planned nap may be the best when you know your productivity may be suffering as a result of feeling tired. 

The National Sleep Foundation goes on to say that a short nap, being between 20 and 30 minutes long, may be best to enhance your alertness, citing studies performed by NASA on military pilots.

Vitamin Selection

Selecting Vitamins/supplements can be extremely overwhelming. The countless choices from essentially the same thing. From childhood I remember my mom has being a big fan of natural medicine/healthy dieting and what not. She was juicing before it became the IT thing. Thankfully the organic/green ideas have really taken off and great quality products are readily available (vs the sketchy “pharmacy” in the cut). 

I currently have to take supplements for a Vitamin D deficiency (from the sunnnnn which I love and miss with our short days wah/but even in the summer I still have low levels which indicate a absorption and retention issue) and Low B12 Levels. More detailed info on VitD and B12 can be found at the links below. Many people suffer from these deficiency either seasonly or chronically- nice to know I’m not just lazy and its actually medically related low energy!

Below are some of the brands I trust, and things I look for. 

I get picky because I don’t need any help getting a healthy dose of toxins, allergens and what not. If I’m going to to make the effort it should be supported by smart decisions. I definitely always pick allergy free foods and supplements/ with a gluten intolerance and a major carb addiction it can be very difficult to do at all times. I’ve spoken with multiple doctors and healthcare professionals who say the most important thing is replenishing the vitamins and not so much the exact kind. So I stick with Natural or “Dietary Supplements” blah blah

What I look for: 

  1. Certified Vegan (except for my Omega (always from deep cold water fish))

Overall this is my personal preference and a major step in my “overhaul”.

Alright no more distraction. This blog is taking off.

In order to not fail at life I’ve recently made some changes regarding my priorities. Senioritis kicked in big time and now is the time to kick its ***. In order to accomplish non-failureism I had to get my schedule cleaned up and make some changes. With the recent time changes the lack of daylight really messes with my energy levels (not to mention my severe Vitamin D deficiency and low B12 levels)

First order of business was beginning a strict eating/vitamin and workout regime. Although these require time they ultimately contribute to my energy levels/lack there of. In the blogs to come I will discuss in detail my regime.  Stayed tuned 



3 Words

Like any great paper I would like to begin with some statistics from a very sophisticated poll well survey- that I just took via text with some of my closest people. Results are still trickling in (I guess I posed a good question? lol going to ignore any other reason)

In searching for topic or theme I got annoyed and figured I should start with the “about me” section. So trying to describe myself in 3 words  I realized that I’m quite random and currently (maybe often or always) super ADD to narrow down my own answer without any real pressure (I like to think I work well under pressure). This realization and writers block  sparked my curiosity as to how others would answer this about (plus who doesn’t like a little help on a challenging assignment & I guess what they see is probably more relatable to readers also). Since the internet can be super sketch I guess I will refrain from using names and blah blah. Any who I’m rambling- Some results

My first official post

While searching for ideas I realized this may not be as easy as I had hoped. I don’t have a problem speaking my thoughts but writing them in stone (online blog) is a bit more challenging. Trying to pick a solid concrete topic has proven been proven -impossible. So I decided upon a theme (my blog means I can make up themes right?) Interesting and Random. OK two themes.

I have many loves in life. So picking one thing to write about is honestly not going to happen. But as  preview I hope to cover many interesting topics: Life, Health, FOOD, Fun, Exercise, Family, College life, juggling life, Jobs (career vs current life- interning, working in a bar, and tutoring and my full time student unpaid job) hence this is how I decided on the Interesting (debatable) and Random (always) theme. OH not to be forgotten must share the hilarious random things that make me LAUGH. Who doesn’t love a good laugh…
